Humanitarian Service International / Christian Service International
Goal: The goal of Humanitarian Service International is to relieve immediate and long-term suffering by providing humanitarian aid, relief, and rehabilitation services in time of disaster, famine, calamity, and other stress or suffering. Community development services or projects may also be undertaken to improve health and living conditions in areas of need.
Scope of work: Services sponsored include tuberculosis treatment, leprosy treatment, malnourishment and severe hunger care, latrine construction and sanitation improvement, harelip repair surgery; community development projects including water supply such as cistern or pipeline construction, footbridge construction, and other community development projects, sometimes operated as food-for-work.
Locations: Countries in which projects have been sponsored include Bangladesh, Belize, Burkina Faso, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Mexico, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Philippines, Romania, Uganda, United States, Zimbabwe, and countries of the former USSR such as Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. Some projects have been sponsored under the name “Christian Service International.”
